A 2019 clip of Seth Rogen is going viral online in which he talks about how hard it is to convince mainstream actresses to strip down compared with porn stars, who are happy to do it.
During his interview on The Graham Norton Show, with Charlize Theron sitting beside him, he openly supports casting porn stars for nude scenes in mainstream movies instead of high-profile actresses who would charge more money.
He mentions that he realized this early in his career and cast Stormy Daniels as a stripper in The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) and Knocked Up (2007), having her appear naked, as well as Katie Morgan in Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008).
I also totally support this decision, but sadly, even he stopped casting porn stars after the 2010s and reduced the amount of nudity in his films, which contradicts his own statement. But casting porn stars is a really good idea. Since mainstream actresses cost too much and most of them outright refuse to film nude scenes, why not cast adult performers who are really beautiful and, in some cases, can act really well?
The problem with casting these big A-listers is that they try to hide as much as possible, even when the script calls for nudity. Then there are directors who seem determined to deprive the younger generation of valuable sex scenes in movies. This has created a very awkward environment in Hollywood, where sex and nudity are treated as a big deal when they’re actually part of human life.
Hiring porn stars, even as body doubles for some explicit scenes, could solve these problems. But then again, directors and producers need to be willing to give audiences a good sex scene.
