Movies:
(1) Diabolic – 20 February (In Theaters & On Demand)
Plot: A woman must return to the fundamentalist compound where she was raised after she is haunted by the vengeful spirit of a cursed witch.
How this was made
Lead Cast: Elizabeth Cullen
Why to watch: This indie horror film will definitely put you on the edge of your couch. The trailer alone is enough to scare me, and honestly, I’m not the kind of person who gets scared by horror films. But this one gives me 2013 horror movie vibes, and I loved that film.
Of course, this one is different in many ways. There’s a queer relationship and a love scene in the woods featuring Elizabeth—so maybe now you’ll be interested in watching it.
(2) This Is Not a Test – 20 February (Theaters)
Plot: Sloane and a small group of her classmates take cover in their high school to escape their suddenly apocalyptic hometown. As danger relentlessly pounds on the doors, Sloane begins to see the world through the eyes of people who actually want to live and takes matters into her own hands.
Cast: Olivia Holt, Froy Gutierrez, Corteon Moore, Carson MacCormac, Chloe Avakian, and Luke MacFarlane
Why to Watch: Young people stuck in a zombie apocalypse—it may seem like a movie we’ve seen many times before, but the trailer is really interesting. And by interesting, I mean it offers a good amount of horror and suspense. It probably won’t be a big hit, but I think young teens will enjoy this kind of movie. So if you’re one of them, this movie is for you.
(3) How to Make a Killing – 20 February (Theaters)
Plot: Disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family, blue-collar Becket Redfellow will stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance, no matter how many relatives he has to go through.
Cast: Glen Powell, Margaret Qualley, Ed Harris
Why to Watch: Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley in a movie, what are you kidding me? But seriously, this movie isn’t getting much promotion, that’s why nobody is talking about it right now on social media, but the premise is definitely interesting, a chaotic family drama with colorful cinematic shots, this movie is definitely for Millennials.
(4) Psycho Killer – 20 February (Theaters)
Plot: A nameless, masked murderer leaves a trail of victims with deceptively eccentric appearances and behaviors across the Northeast.
Cast: Georgina Campbell, Logan Miller, Malcolm McDowell
Why to Watch: The trailer speaks for itself, lots of killings, blood, and some skin were teased in the trailer. If it turns out good, it might start a new franchise, just like in recent years Terrifier became a household name, but unlike that, I think this is a one-and-done film.
(5) The Buff – 23 February (Prime Video)
Plot: A Caribbean woman gets her secret past revealed when her island is invaded by vicious buccaneers.
Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Karl Urban
Why to Watch: This pirate-themed film features Priyanka Chopra, all Indians will be watching because they obviously love her, but on the surface from the trailer the movie seems ok, it isn’t going to be a worldwide hit, but I guess you can watch it when you are bored.
TV Series:
(1) 56 Days – Season 1 – 18 February (Prime Video)
Plot: After a chance supermarket encounter, Oliver and Ciara embark on an intense relationship; when a savagely murdered corpse surfaces 56 days later, the investigation delves into their turbulent love story, revealing grim secrets.
Cast: Dove Cameron
Why to Watch: This erotic series starring Dove Cameron is more than just love and romantic scenes—there’s a murder and dark secrets involved. It’s based on the novel of the same name, which is popular among young people, so there’s a lot of hype around it—especially because of all the adult scenes teased in the trailer that audiences are curious about. We’ll find out how good it really is on February 18.
(2) Paradise – Season 2 – 23 February (Hulu)
Plot: In a post-apocalyptic world, a group of survivors navigates political intrigue and threats in their quest for a safe haven.
Cast: Sterling K. Brown, Julianne Nicholson, James Marsden
Why to watch: I am going to be honest with you, I haven’t watched season 1, but many people liked it, so I guess it is also my cue to start watching from season 1 and catch up until season 2 drops. This is also your cue.
Cast: Sterling K. Brown, Julianne Nicholson, James Marsden
