So, Crystal Lake is finally out, and as expected, it really doesn’t have all the sex and nudity that the Friday the 13th film series is famous for.
Linda Cardellini gave her best performance, and I think she was easily the best part of the series, but I didn’t really like the other characters that much.
As for sex and nudity, Linda Cardellini has two sex scenes, one in Episode 2 and another in Episode 4, and both are disappointing. She basically just moans while remaining fully clothed. There’s barely anything worth watching in these scenes, and neither is filmed in a way that makes the sex look hot or passionate.
Episode 6 does have a sex scene featuring butt nudity, and I think it’s actually a pretty good scene, but they really fucked it up with the way they filmed it.
I mean, just look at her ass during the scene. It’s so obvious that they aren’t actually having sex. Of course, I know they’re actors and aren’t supposed to be having real sex, but aren’t they supposed to make it look real? That’s literally the whole point of filming a convincing sex scene.
Instead, the positioning makes the whole thing look fake, and it completely takes me out of the moment. It’s even more frustrating because the scene had the potential to be really good.
Overall, Crystal Lake might satisfy fans looking for horror and violence, but when it comes to sex and nudity, it’s nowhere near what I expected from the Friday the 13th franchise. The original films weren’t afraid to show some skin, but this series feels way too restrained.
I wasn’t expecting every episode to be filled with naked women, but considering the franchise’s history, I definitely expected something better than this.
