Roma Elastica, starring Marion Cotillard and Noémie Merlant, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, is a weird film.
The story, set in 1982, follows Eddie (Marion Cotillard), a French actress who got a taste of American fame but is now on the verge of collapse. She then learns that she has terminal brain cancer. She accepts what she believes is her final role in a sci-fi film shooting in Rome.
She travels to Rome with her makeup artist and bodyguard, Valentina (Noémie Merlant).
There, she becomes involved with drugs and starts losing her mind as her mental state declines. The film turns into body horror, featuring blood, vomit, and hands growing out of her body.
As for adult content:
Eddie gets intimate with Valentina, and they share kisses. The exact details of their relationship are currently unknown, but they do share a kiss. Valentina also flashes her breasts for a few seconds in good lighting.
Then there’s an orgy scene that Eddie participates in, and it also features the famous octopus creature from Possession. The orgy is stylized with dim lighting and fast cuts, but we do see nudity and sex in it.
