Titled Butcher & Blackbird, the novel is really sexually explicit. It’s about Sloane Sutherland and Rowan Kane, both vigilantes who murder serial killers, predators, and other criminals. They meet by accident and decide to work together to eliminate as many dangerous people as they can, slowly developing an attraction to one another, which leads to many sexual situations.
The novel contains graphic and explicit sex scenes, such as Sloane masturbating with a vibrator while someone watches her through a hole. Later, Rowan helps Sloane bathe after she’s injured. Her breasts are exposed, and then Rowan slowly reaches between her legs and masturbates her. After that, they perform oral sex on each other, followed by penetration and domination and submission roleplay. From this point onward, they frequently have sex in different places and use various sex toys and food items during sex. Lots of oral sex, nudity, and kinks are described after this, which are really hot to read.
The novel is being adapted into a movie, with Emma Laird playing Sloane and Thomas Doherty playing Rowan. It’s really promising because Emma Laird has never been shy about stripping down when the script requires it. But as always, it all comes down to Amazon MGM Studios and whether they are willing to adapt even 50% of all the sexual and nude content into live action.
Sex and nudity are major parts of the novel. It could work if they leave out most of the explicit scenes, but the film wouldn’t be memorable or impactful. It would just be another piece of slop on Prime Video. Luckily, Prime Video has recently shown that it’s willing to adapt more skin show and more sex from the source material, with Dove Cameron in 56 Days or in Off Campus. However, they are still leaving out some explicit parts, and I think they will give this film the same treatment.
