Violet Sorrengail is the main character in the Fourth Wing novel, which follows her as the daughter of a powerful military commander in the kingdom of Navarre. Her family orders her to join the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College. The academy is extremely dangerous, students frequently die during training, and dragons can kill anyone they consider unworthy.
There, she meets many characters, trains and fights alongside them, and also has explicit sex.
Esther McGregor has been cast as Violet, and people on social media are not happy about the casting, particularly because of how she looks. They want an even more beautiful woman to play Violet in this fantasy world, someone who looks like a Disney princess.
But Esther McGregor is the perfect casting choice, and here’s why.
Both Esther and Violet are fair-skinned, petite, slender, shorter, and look physically weak. Esther is 24 years old, while Violet is 20 years old in the novel. Violet’s hair has silver-colored ends, and while Esther is completely blonde, she can dye her hair.
Although I think Esther is way too petite and might need to gain some weight, other than that, she is a good choice to play this character. Almost every physical feature of Violet matches Esther’s appearance perfectly, so the criticism is unnecessary.
The series will begin production very soon. There are still many characters whose casting announcements are pending, but I believe we’ll see those announcements in the upcoming weeks.
As for sex and nudity, the novel is explicit, but other than Violet, there aren’t many characters who take off their clothes in the first novel. So let’s see whether Prime Video delivers a hit or a miss with this one.
