The Venice Film Festival is moving ahead with lots of movies. So far, Netflix’s INK and The Girl with the Leica have had their world premieres, but only INK is getting all the press, so let’s talk about the other film.
The film opens on Bastille Day in Paris. 26-year-old German-Jewish photojournalist Gerda Taro (Emilia Schüle) spends her final hours in the city alongside her romantic and professional partner, Robert Capa (Aaron Altaras), and their close-knit circle of exiled anti-fascist intellectuals.
The lead character, Gerda, is described as “not meant for only one man.” She has relationships with many men in the circle and has brief sexual encounters. How much sex is featured is not confirmed at the moment, but there appears to be partial upper-body nudity during sex and fleeting nudity as Gerda changes clothes.
