(1) The Dutchman – 6 January (Theaters)

Starring: Kate Mara
A successful Black businessman attends therapy with his wife to salvage their marriage, but a tense subway encounter with a mysterious woman takes a dangerous and psychologically charged turn.
My Review: From what I have heard, the movie isn’t that good. It tries to create unnecessary racial situations that don’t feel real. The best part of the movie is Kate Mara, and that’s it.
(2) 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE – 6 January (Theaters)

Starring: Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell
In the aftermath of the events of 28 Years Later, Dr. Ian Kelson forms a shocking new alliance with world-altering consequences, while Spike faces sinister forces threatening his community on the mainland.
My Review: The previous movie was a success, so I am looking forward to some more zombies.
(3) Primate – 9 January (Theaters)

Starring: Johnny Sequoyah, Troy Kotsur, Jessica Alexander, Victoria Wyant
A group of friends on a tropical vacation find their paradise turning into a nightmare of horror and survival when they encounter primal terrors.
My Review: A monkey creating havoc and killing everyone it sees sounds too familiar. These types of movies always change the animal, but the premise remains the same, and this one is very similar too.
(4) The People We Meet on Vacation – 9 January (Netflix)

Starring: Tom Blyth, Emily Bader
Free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex, best friends for a decade, reunite for one last vacation after a two-year fallout, hoping to mend their bond while exploring new destinations.
My Review: This is your typical Netflix film. I don’t think it will be anything unique, but at least you have another movie to play in the background.
(5) Jack and Ava – 9 January (On Demand)

Starring: Isaac Lee, Elisha Herbert
An orphan and a victim, two lovers embark on a heist that spirals into the most dangerous 72 hours of their lives when things go horribly wrong.
My Review: This is an indie film. There’s not much in it, but if you want to watch something grounded, this is for you.
