The Invite, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, seemed very interesting at first, but I quickly found out the details, and it turned out to be really disappointing. Starring Olivia Wilde and Penélope Cruz, the film has sexual tension everywhere, but it goes nowhere.
The most I’ve found so far is that Penélope Cruz makes moaning noises, but we don’t see her making love. Both couples talk about a foursome and a swinger lifestyle, but none of it is shown.
The plot is something you’ve seen a hundred times: a couple unsatisfied with their sex life decides to invite their neighbors to dinner after hearing them have wild sex, and they end up talking about a foursome and a swinger lifestyle.
Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen play the unsatisfied couple, while their neighbors, Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz, have a secret in their love life.
The film will be released in theaters on June 26.
