The first teaser for Blade Runner 2099, starring Hunter Schafer, is out, but it is heavily disappointing for us adult fans because it teases no strippers, sex workers, or naked bodies. The teaser is heavily focused on the cinematography.
The series takes place 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, and currently, that’s all the details we have.
So, does that mean the show is doomed and we’ll not get any nudity in it? Hold your horses, because this is just a teaser. Sure, it is disappointing, but the full picture has not been revealed yet. A full trailer will be the definitive answer to what this series looks like. Furthermore, there are many female replicants mentioned in the cast.
Replicants are artificial humans who are used as workers, strippers, sex workers, and in the sex industry, so there is a chance that the series will contain nudity just like the Ryan Gosling film.
The negative point is that there are two intimacy coordinators, and both of them have only worked on relatively tame projects like Your Fault: London, Hedda, and Mickey 17. So that’s a big negative because it suggests we might get only some brief sex scenes and partial nudity.
Well, the series is still a long way off. It will premiere on November 25, 2026, on Prime Video, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
