Venice Film Festival 2026 Lineups: Films Most Likely to Feature Sex and Nudity

enice Film Festival is starting from Sept. 2 to 12, and this year there are more indie films premiering. Some are interesting, and I am going to review them when those movies come out. But I have made a list of films that you should look out for. Remember, this is not a definitive list. There might be more nudity in the other films, but since I made this list based on the plot, cast, and other details that we know of, the other films don’t show many hints at adult content.

(1) Company

Starring: Emily Alyn Lind, Sydney Chandler, Caylee Cowan

Plot: A period piece following a love triangle between a husband and wife and a mysterious grifter.

The cast and plot are definitely interesting, and you don’t need me to tell you that this is a must-watch. But can we expect, just from the plot and cast, that there will be nudity and sex? Well, honestly, I don’t think there will be graphic or explicit nudity. Partial nudity and some sex are what I expect because the writers are not necessarily known for writing erotic scenes.

(2) DAU

Starring: Marina Abramovic, Ekaterina Andreeva

Plot: The action unfolds largely inside a closed Soviet research institute, where scientific hierarchy, privilege, and constant surveillance define daily existence. As his room for independent action narrows, Dau seeks release in a succession of affairs outside his marriage, a pattern that gradually costs him his attachments and his sense of self. The narrative covers the four decades from 1928 to 1968.

I don’t know much about this film, but what I do know is that director Ilya Khrzhanovsky made a film with the same title back in 2019, and it contained explicit sex and nudity. So yeah, this is really promising.

(3) Bucking Fastard

Starring: Kate Mara and Rooney Mara

Plot: Jean and Joan Holbrooke are two sisters who are so close they speak in unison, love the same man, and have the same dreams. In search of an imaginary land where true love is possible, they start digging through an entire mountain range.

The real-life sisters are playing on-screen sisters. Currently, I don’t have any concrete evidence that this film will contain nudity or sex, but both sisters are obsessed with the same man and have the same dreams, so it’s possible we’ll see some sexual dream sequences. Also, director Werner Herzog usually explores human desire in his movies, so there are chances that there will be nudity. Let’s see.

(4) Possible Love

Starring: Cho Yeo-jeong, Jeon Do-yeon

Plot: Four strangers’ paths cross by chance, leading to complex emotional entanglements that challenge their existing relationships and force them to confront uncomfortable truths about love and commitment.

The film is rated for some sexuality and nudity, so hopefully the nudity is from the actresses.

(5) The Echo Chamber

Starring: Alicia Vikander, Aomi Muyock

Plot: A love story where the boundaries between presence and absence, care and dependence, desire, and control blur until they dissolve.

While there are no details about any sexual content, I am sure there is going to be at least some nudity and sex because the intimacy coordinator is Luisa Lazzaro, who previously worked on Gangs of Milano, which contained some decent content. On top of that, it is an Italian and Belgian film, which usually contains adult content.

Final Thoughts

There aren’t any big films premiering at this festival, which is disappointing.
